It is past-president of the international society of hypertension (ISH), European society of hypertension (ESH) and of the Italian society of hypertension (SIIA).
He was a member of the Scientific Steering Committee and of the Working Group on hypertension and the heart of the European society of Cardiology (ESC) and is Chairman of the ESH/ESC Hypertension Guidelines Committee and the Liaison Committee who/ISH hypertension and cardiovascular prevention. It is ex-officio member of the Board of the American society for hypertension (ASH).
