Dr. Helmy went to Alexandria University School of medicine, where he did his first Medicine residency, had his master and Doctorate degrees, and served as a clinical instructor before moving to the US. There he did a second residency at Indiana University, a fellowship in Endocrinology and metabolism.
Is triple boarded in Medicine, endocrinology and clinical lipidology. Active as a clinician, teacher and researcher. A recipient of many teaching awards, the author of many publications, a book chapter and a book.

I graduated in 1986. I was research associate in Nuclear Medicine working (metabolic bone disease and thyroid cancer) and finished residency program in 1993.From 1993-1997 I was at Ohio State University as researcher in the Bone and Mineral Metabolism Laboratory. In 1997 I started Internal Medicine residency program and served as a chief resident. Endocrinology fellowship in Cleveland Clinic was from 2000-2002.
