Dr.Helmy earned his MBBCh., MSc.,& MD degrees from Alexandria University, did his first Medicine residency, then serving as a clinical instructor before moving to the USA. In the US he did a second residency, and a fellowship in Endocrinology & Metabolism. Board certified in both, he moved on to become a diplomat of clinical lipidology & earned his third board. He is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine, Endocrinology & Metabolism at Indiana University. The founder and director of the Lipid Clinic in the Indianapolis VA Medical Center. The recipient of many teaching awards including The University President teaching Award, & the ACP Laureate Award. A clinician, researcher and author
